Boumedienne to Skate for Sweden at World Junior Championship

BOSTON - Sophomore Sascha Boumedienne of the Boston University men's ice hockey team was named to Sweden's roster for the 2026 IIHF World Junior Championship.
Boumedienne has played all 17 games for BU this season, totaling six points (2g, 4a) and blocking 23 shots. He has yet to miss a game in his Terrier career, as he notched three goals and 10 assists for 13 points in 40 games as a freshman last year.
A native of Stockholm, Boumedienne shined on the international stage at the 2025 IIHF World Under-18 Championship earlier this year. He was named the Best Defenseman at the tournament as he helped Sweden secure silver. Boumedienne set a record for points by a defenseman at the tournament with 14 points (1g, 13a) in seven games, leading all players in assists.
Boumedienne was selected 28th overall by the Winnipeg Jets in the first round of the 2025 NHL Draft.
