No. 13/12 Terriers Prepped for Home-and-Home Series With New Hampshire

BOSTON – The No. 13/12 Boston University women's ice hockey team (20-9-1, 17-5-1 HE) will play a home-and-home series with New Hampshire (15-14-1, 11-12-0 HE) this weekend. The Terriers travel to the Whittemore Center on Friday (Feb. 14) for a 6 p.m. game before welcoming the Wildcats to Walter Brown Arena on Saturday (Feb. 15) at 4 p.m.
 
Saturday's game will feature BU's annual Chilifest during which fans can try beef, pork, poultry and vegan chili prepared by BU dining services and vote for their favorite. Tickets for Saturday's game can be purchased here.
 
TERRIER TIDBITS
  • The Terriers split its last weekend at home, losing to UConn 3-1 and defeating Providence 4-1.
  • The win against Providence marked the first time BU came back from a second period deficit to win this season, scoring all four goals in the third period.
  • Sophomore Neely Nicholson scored against UConn while junior Maeve Carey and sophomore Alex Law scored once and junior Sydney Healey scored twice against Providence.
  • Law's goal came shorthanded and Healey's second goal came on an empty net. Carey's goal was her first as a Terrier.
  • Seniors Ani FitzGerald, Liv Haag, Christina Vote, graduate student Lindsay Bochna, Law, freshman Kaileigh Quigg and Carey all logged assists over the weekend.
  • BU is No. 13 in the USCHO poll and No. 12 in the USA Hockey poll this week. The USA Hockey ranking is BU's highest this season.
  • The Terriers remain atop the Hockey East standings and were the first to reach 50 points this season.
  • BU is also the first team in Hockey East to reach 20 wins on the season, a feat it has not accomplished since the 2019-20 season.
  • The Terriers lead Hockey East and are second in the NCAA in penalty killing percentage (0.917). Since the start of the second half, BU has given up only one power-play goal.
  • BU owns the most shorthanded goals in Hockey East with four.
  • Five Terriers have surpassed their season points total from 2023-24.
  • S. Healey leads BU in points (19) and goals (13) this season. Her goals per game value of 0.43 is fourth in Hockey East.
  • Senior Callie Shanahan boasts a save percentage of .924 and a GAA of 1.80 while sophomore Mari Pietersen owns a save percentage of .920 and a GAA of 1.83.
  • Pietersen was named the Hockey East Defender of the Week following a career best 36-save performance against Providence. 
 
SCOUTING THE WILDCATS
  • New Hampshire is 15-14-1 overall this season with an 11-12-0 record in Hockey East play.
  • The Wildcats are 8-7-1 at home.
  • UNH most recently defeated Merrimack 3-2 on the road.
  • UNH's last win at the Whittemore Center was on Feb. 6 in a 4-3 overtime result to Merrimack.
  • Prior to that game, the Wildcats dropped a 4-3 overtime contest to Providence.
  • UNH's longest win streak this season was four games with wins over Holy Cross (2), Vermont and Mercyhurst back in November.
  • Goaltender Sedona Blair has the second most shutouts in Hockey East with six.
 
SERIES HISTORY VS. NEW HAMPSHIRE
  • The Terriers are 38-21-6 overall against UNH with a 16-10-4 record on the road and a 21-10-2 record at home.
  • In the most recent meeting, BU was shut out at UNH, 2-0.
  • BU last won at the Whittemore Center on Nov. 11, 2023, in a 5-3 decision.
  • The last time the Terriers defeated UNH at home was on Jan. 21, 2023, in a 3-1 outcome.
  • The last time the Terriers lost three games in a row to the Wildcats was during the 2007-08 season.
