Softball to Wrap Homestand with Harvard Tuesday Afternoon

BOSTON – Concluding an eight-game homestand, the Boston University softball team will host local rival Harvard on Tuesday with first pitch set for 4 p.m.
The Terriers are 9-0 in contests with in-state opponents this year with multiple wins against Boston College (2x), Holy Cross (3x), Merrimack (2x) and Stonehill (2x).
Both BU and the Crimson enter the matchup looking to bounce back from home conference series losses suffered over the weekend with the Terriers dropping two of three to Army West Point and the Crimson falling short two times as well to Brown.

- BU is 8-4 at home this season with four run-rule victories, including two earned against Stonehill last week.

- Junior Brooke Deppiesse is batting a team-high .426 with 48 runs scored, 13 doubles and 12 stolen bases, while sophomore Kylie Doherty (.368) remains the leader in homers at 10 total.
- Junior Megan Coyle (.331) went 8-for-18 (.444) last week with eight RBIs to extend her team lead to 46 RBIs, seven ahead of Doherty.
- Freshmen Kieren McHugh (.286) and Camryn Lyons (.276) both hit over .300 last week to combine for 12 RBIs after totaling seven over the previous 39 contests.
- In the circle, junior Kasey Ricard (20-9, 2.03 ERA) leads the nation in innings pitched at 196.2 while ranking third in victories (20) and 11th in strikeouts (185). Freshmen Ava Johnson (4-2, 2.87 ERA) and Danika Nell (4-1, 3.97) have combined for 69 strikeouts in 74 innings.
- Overall, BU is batting .311 and holding opponents to .240 with a 26-20 edge in homers.
- Harvard is 9-4 in true road games with notable wins at current No. 88 RPI program Georgia Southern (5-4, 6-2) and No. 92 Saint Mary's (5-4). In conference play, the Crimson earned a sweep at Penn and suffered their own sweep at Princeton.
- Sophie Sun is batting a team-high .402 with seven homers, 27 runs scored and 21 RBIs, while Finley Payne (.384) is hitting .384 alongside five homers and 21 RBIs as well.
- In the circle, Riley Flynn (6-4, 2.40 ERA) has posted 60 strikeouts in 73.0 innings, while Nicolette Hunter (8-2, 2.69 ERA) has earned 43 strikeouts in 67.2 innings.
- Overall, Harvard is batting .310 and holding opponents to .253 with a 39-27 advantage in doubles and 40-25 lead in stolen bases.
- BU owns a 30-15 record in the series that dates back to 1989 with a 14-6 home mark compared to the 16-9 road performance.
- The Terriers are riding a five-game win streak following last year's 9-5 road victory in which they pulled away in the seventh thanks to an RBI single and three-run homer.
