The No. 14/15 Boston University men's lacrosse team will begin its quest for a second conference tournament title in the last four years when the second-seeded Terriers face third-seeded Lafayette in a Patriot League semifinal contest on Friday night at Michie Stadium.
Game time is set for 7 p.m., with top-seeded Army West Point hosting fifth-seeded Colgate in the first semifinal at 4 p.m. Both contests will be nationally televised on CBS Sports Network.
TOURNAMENT HISTORY
- The Terriers have qualified for the semifinals in all but one of their eight tournament appearances and have advanced to the title game in two of the last three years.
- BU is 7-6 all-time in the conference tournament, including a 2-4 record in the semifinals.
- This is the first time BU has been the No. 2 seed; the Terriers were No. 1 in 2022 and 2023, No. 3 in 2017 and 2019, No. 4 in 2024 and No. 6 in 2018.
- The 2021 tournament did not employ the traditional structure due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
TERRIER TIDBITS
- BU clinched the No. 2 seed in the conference tournament thanks to a 14-12 win over Colgate on Friday at Nickerson Field.
- Senior Jimmy O'Connell was named PL Offensive Player of the Week and earned a spot on the USILA Team of the Week after recording a career-high eight points on three goals and a career-best five assists against the Raiders.
- PL Faceoff Specialist of the Week Madden Murphy won a career-best 16 of the 24 draws he took and won a career-high six ground balls.
- PL Defensive Player of the Week Connor Kehm led the Terriers with four caused turnovers and adding three ground balls.
- Junior Jimmy Kohr (2g) and freshman Timothy Shannehan (3g, 1a) were electric at attack alongside O'Connell while sophomore Tyler Fox (2g), freshman Andrew Pape (2g, 1a) and senior Brenden Kelly (1g, 2a) were clutch out of the midfield.
- Freshman Ben Morris also found the back of the net while senior Zach Travaglini provided an assist.
- Shannehan was named PL Rookie of the Year on Monday and also secured a spot on the All-Patriot League First Team.
- He leads all NCAA rookies with 54 points and is the only freshman in the country with at least 50 points.
- Keh, O'Connell, Pape, senior goalkeeper Will Barnes and senior LSM Trey Brown were all named to the All-Patriot League Second Team.
- O'Connell leads BU in points (61) and assists (30).
- He is the sixth Terrier in program history to record 60+ points in a single season.
- Barnes ended the regular season ranked sixth in the country with a .598 save percentage and eighth in the NCAA with an 8.76 goals-against average.
- An Inside Lacrosse Midseason All-American, Kehm leads BU with a career-high 29 caused turnovers and a career-best 49 ground balls.
- He enters the postseason ranked sixth in the NCAA in caused turnovers per game (2.07) and total caused turnovers (29).
- BU continues to be one of the top riding teams in the nation, ranking third in the NCAA and first in the PL in opponent clear percentage (.749).
- The Terriers also enter the playoffs with the second-ranked man-up unit in the NCAA, as they have converted on 58.3% of their EMOs this season.
HISTORY AGAINST LAFAYETTE
- BU is 9-2 all-time against the Leopards, though the two losses have come in each of the last two seasons.
- Lafayette earned its first-ever win over BU last April at Nickerson Field, beating the fourth-quarter buzzer for an 11-10 triumph.
- The Leopards then defeated the Terriers, 11-9, in Easton, Pennsylvania, on April 12.
- BU defeated Lafayette, 12-7, on March 15, 2014, for the program's first-ever victory.
- The April 12 loss was the first time the Terriers were held to fewer than 10 goals against Lafayette.
SCOUTING THE LEOPARDS
- Led by 2025 PL Coach of the Year Patrick Myers, Lafayette earned its first-ever PL Tournament win on Tuesday with a 9-5 home triumph over Navy.
- First Team All-PL attackman Riley Sullivan leads the Leopards in goals (30), assists (41) and points (71); he is third nationally in assists per game (2.93) and fourth in the NCAA with 5.07 ppg.
- Junior goalkeeper Joe Doherty made a career-high 18 saves in Tuesday's win, lowering his goals-against average to 9.56 and raising his save percentage to .546.
- Senior faceoff specialist Evan Prince leads Lafayette with 69 ground balls and owns a .550 win percentage at the X.
- The Leopards are fourth in the nation on the ride with an opponent clear percentage of .749.

- If BU wins on Friday, the Terriers will face the winner of the Army-Colgate semifinal in Sunday's championship game at Michie Stadium.
