HOW IT HAPPENED
- USF scored on the game's first shot as Chau's right-footed strike beat Shobeiri in the 13th minute.
- The Terriers' first shot of the night came from freshman Georgia Prouty's boot in the 21st minute, but Bengtsson-Stenseth turned it away, as did the USF defense with the ensuing corner kick.
- Each team traded chances moments later. Stickelman had her shot blocked, then Shobeiri stepped up for a save on Kaitlyn Sasadeusz on the other end.
- Shobeiri's second save came in the 33rd minute, denying Chau's attempt at a brace.
- After a BU goal kick, Osterman's try was corralled by Bengtsson-Stenseth in the 36th minute.
- Sophomore Olivia Avellar had a third Terrier shot blocked moments before the end of the first half, and BU could not convert on the ensuing corner kick to keep San Francisco's lead at 1-0 at halftime.
- The Dons opened the second half with a chance on target 2:04 into the stanza, requiring a save from Shobeiri.
- Sasadeusz nearly made it a two-goal contest in the 58th minute after a sprint down the central portion of the box, but sophomore Alli Powderly stuck with the play and sent the ball away off Sasadeusz by the left goal line.
- Gianino leveled the match at 1-1 after Stickelman was fouled 20 yards away from goal at the top of the box. Gianino drilled the shot off the crossbar and down past a diving Bengtsson-Stenseth in the 66th minute.
- After Shobeiri snared a loose ball from a San Francisco corner kick, the Dons regained possession for Hannah Burns to flick a shot near the right post for Shobeiri to collect in the 77th minute.
- Stickelman gave BU the lead for good in the 84th minute, intercepting a clear from the Dons and switching feet to evade a marker at the top of the box and firing a left-footed strike into the lower-left corner.
- San Francisco held the advantage in shots (10-8) and shots on target (5-4).
- BU generated five corner kicks to the Dons' four.
- One yellow card was assessed to USF's Konstantina Konidaris in the 44th minute.
- Stickelman scored her fifth career goal. All five have occurred in the second half and three have found the back of the net in the last seven minutes of regulation.
- Gianino has registered a point in all four games this year. She leads the Patriot League with nine points.
- The Terriers improve to 2-0 on the road this year. BU is 3-0-2 in its previous five regular season road matches dating back to 2024.
- BU captured its first win over San Francisco in the series and its fourth against a WCC foe. The series moves to 1-1 between the Terriers and the Dons.
- BU closes the trip at Saint Mary's on Sunday (Aug. 31). Opening kick from Moraga, Calif. is set for 4 p.m. ET and 1 p.m. local time.
