BOSTON—Junior Jack Harvey scored twice to force overtime, but the No. 20 Boston University men's ice hockey team eventually fell, 4-3 in overtime, to UMass Lowell on Friday night at Agganis Arena.

Sophomore Mikhail Yegorov posted 18 saves through 40 minutes of play, and junior Max Lacroix backstopped eight additional stops.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Terriers opened the contest with a terrific chance by Nick Roukounakis at 2:05, set up by Cole Hutson, but were denied by goaltender Samuel Richard (31 saves).
- BU continued to pepper the River Hawks with quality shots on target by Fondrk and Harvey midway through the first period.
- Morello cashed in first, opening the scoring for the home team at 15:53. Morello received the puck cross-ice from Ritchie and was initially denied—as was Boumedienne on the rebound—but Morello's second attempt exploded into the back of the net.
- The Terriers closed out the first frame with a successful penalty kill, preventing UMass Lowell from firing any shots on goal.
- BU led in shots on net, 17-5, through the opening 20 minutes.
- Harvey doubled the Terriers' lead at 6:42 of the second period on the power play. Fondrk connected with Ritchie from blue line to goal line, who fed Harvey for a one-time snipe from the left circle.
- The River Hawks answered back to tie the game, 2-2, with a shorthanded tally at 14:01 and an even-strength goal at 18:12.
- UMass Lowell completed the comeback, taking a 3-2 lead on its man advantage with four seconds remaining in the second period.
- BU was outshot, 16-7, in the middle frame.
- Lacroix took over for Yegorov (18 saves) in net during the final period.
- The Terriers scored a short-handed notch of their own at 6:47 to even the score at three apiece—Harvey's second tuck of the night. Trethewey cleared the puck, and the River Hawks failed to recover possession in their defensive zone, allowing Bednarik and Harvey to connect for the equalizer.
- Harvey nearly found the go-ahead goal to complete his hat trick with 2:19 remaining but was denied.
- After 60 minutes of regulation, the score remained deadlocked at 3-3 and headed to a five-minute overtime.
- Following a flurry of penalties on either side, UMass Lowell collected the game-winner at the two-minute mark of extra time.
- Lacroix turned away seven pucks on eight shots, including one in overtime.
- BU and UMass Lowell's head-to-head record falls to 82-38-12.
- Picking up assists on BU's first two goals, Ritchie collected his fourth multi-point game of his freshman season.
- Harvey recorded his third multi-goal performance of his career, including his second of the season.
- With Harvey's power-play tally, BU converted on the man advantage for the first time since Nov. 29, 2025.
- Harvey's second goal of the night now ranks the Terriers second in the nation for short-handed conversions with seven.
- BU and UMass Lowell will conclude their home-and-home series on Saturday night (Jan. 17) at Tsongas Center.
- Puck drop is scheduled for 6:05 p.m.
