Shannehan Named PL Offensive Player of the Week
February 9, 2026 | Men's Lacrosse
BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Sophomore Timothy Shannehan of the Boston University men's lacrosse team was named Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week, as announced on Monday.
Shannehan was dominant in the Terriers' 23-7 win over Siena on Friday, as the preseason All-American totaled 11 points on five goals and a career-best six assists. That point total is the second-most ever by a Terrier, with only Vince D'Alto's seven-goal, seven-assist effort against Lafayette on March 26, 2022, ahead of Shannehan. Shannehan's 11-point performance is best among Division I men's lacrosse players this season and it is only the fourth time a Terrier has notched 10 or more points in a single game.
In addition to his stellar offensive numbers, Shannehan also had one caused turnover and gathered four ground balls. One of his assists came off that caused turnover, as he forced the Siena goalkeeper into a giveaway, grabbed the loose ball and found Jimmy Kohr for the goal. Shannehan was a big part of the Terriers' success on the ride all game, as BU goaded the Saints into 11 failed clears on Friday.
A preseason All-Patriot League selection, Shannehan is tied for fourth in the NCAA with 13 points through two games. He is also tied for sixth nationally with six assists and tied for ninth in the country with seven goals.
BU will return to action on Sunday, Feb. 15, when the Terriers host Dartmouth at Nickerson Field. Opening faceoff is scheduled for 4 p.m.
