Terriers Set to Host Brown and UMass Lowell in Round-Robin Weekend Series

BOSTON – Riding a seven-game win streak, the Boston University softball team will welcome defending Ivy League champion Brown and America East rival UMass Lowell to campus for a pair of round-robin tripleheaders over the weekend.
The Bears and River Hawks will face off at 10:30 a.m. on both Saturday (March 14) and Sunday (March 15). The Terriers will then follow up against the two squads with action in the second contest slated to begin at 12:45 p.m. and the third set for 3 p.m.

TERRIER TIDBITS
- BU is 2-0 at home so far following Tuesday's doubleheader sweep over Quinnipiac (7-0 and 12-1) after posting a 14-4 record last season.
- Freshman Irys Kline leads the Terriers batting .374 with an impressive 15 walks for .506 on-base percentage while adding six doubles, two triples and a homer.
- Both junior Kyomi Apalit (.368) and senior Brooke Deppiesse (.354) are batting over .350 with a combined 32 RBIs and 11 extra-base hits.
- Owner of a team-high 24 RBIs, junior Kylie Doherty (.288) has already totaled 28 homers and just needs four more to tie the program record.
- In the circle, senior Kasey Ricard (10-5, 4.11 ERA) has earned 95 strikeouts over 92.0 innings of work. With a career 84 victories, she just needs two more to break the program record.
- Senior Haley Ganino (4-1, 4.03 ERA) has recorded 10 strikeouts in 33.0 innings, primarily pitching in relief with just one start and 15 appearances.
- BU is currently batting .305 and holding opponents to .289 with a 58-50 advantage in extra-base hits. The Terriers have also drawn 97 walks and allowed just 61.
Brown, 1-9 (Sat., 12:45 p.m. | Sun., 3 p.m.)
- The Bears are looking to get on a run following last year's 33-17 record and appearance in the NCAA Lubbock Regional. They eared a 3-1 win against Colorado State with tightly-contested losses to Jacksonville (4-3), Southern Miss (1-0) and Kansas City (3-1).
- Maggie Foxx is the lone Bear over .300 with a team-high .375 batting average alongside four RBIs, while Elli Thompson (.286 avg.) leads Brown at three extra-base hits off two doubles and a homer.
- In the circle, both Macy Borowski (1-4, 6.66 ERA) and Edie Cobb (0-5, 10.30 ERA) have totaled 32 strikeouts over 45.0 innings of work.
- Brown is bating .217 so far and holding opponents to .347 with opponents posting a 29-12 advantage in extra-base hits along with a 27-2 lead in stolen bases.
- BU leads the all-time series, 17-12-1, after the Bears pulled out an 8-7 decision in Providence last season following BU road wins in 2019 (6-0) and 2016 (7-3). The Terriers last hosted Brown back in 2006.
- The River Hawks are 9-9 in non-conference play after finishing 10-14 a year prior en route to a 17-29 finish. They own notable wins over George Washington, UTEP and UTSA with most recently a pair of one-run losses at George Mason Wednesday afternoon.
- Elizabeth Neeld leads UML batting .364 with eight RBIs, eight runs scored and eight walks for a .472 on-base percentage, while Julia Rowley (.333) owns a team-high five doubles, two homers and a triple alongside 12 RBIs.
- Olivia DeCitise (6-4, 2.29 ERA) and Giana LaCedra (1-4, 3.59 ERA) lead the pitching staff with a combined 88 strikeouts in 94 innings of work.
- As a team, UML is batting .259 and holding opponents to .228 with the River Hawks leading in doubles, 22-12, and facing a 13-4 deficit in homers.
- BU leads the all-time series, 19-2, having won the last nine meetings with UML last posting a win in 2017 on the road, 4-2 (9).
- BU will remain home and next host Stonehill in a doubleheader on Wednesday (March 18) starting at 2 p.m.
- The Terriers swept last year's home doubleheader by a combined score of 20-2 after posting a 11-1 victory in 2024.
