BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Graduate student Michael Allieri, freshman Peyton Forte and sophomore Madden Murphy each earned a Patriot League weekly award, as announced on Monday.
Allieri was chosen as PL Goalkeeper of the Week, Forte earned PL Rookie of the Week honors and Murphy took home his third PL Faceoff Specialist of the Week award of the season. All three were instrumental in the Terriers' 13-12 overtime win over Bucknell on Saturday.
A native of Wellesley, Massachusetts, Allieri turned in a sensational performance in the cage. He entered the game to start the third quarter and made quite the impact, recording 11 saves and allowing just three goals (.786 save percentage) in 30:38 of work. The 11 saves is the most by Allieri during his Terrier career. His biggest save came on the final possession of the fourth quarter as he made a stop in the final seconds to force overtime.
Forte continued his excellent rookie season by scoring two goals on Saturday. He tied the game at 8-8 in the second quarter and then gave BU a 12-11 lead with 6:50 remaining in regulation. The Westminster, Maryland, native has scored 23 goals and added seven assists for 30 points this season, having found the back of the net in all but one of his 11 starts at attack.
Murphy was dominant at the faceoff X on Saturday, going 20-for-25 (.800), scooping up 11 ground balls and scoring his first goal of the season. The 20 wins matches his career high that he set earlier this season at Lehigh while his 11 ground balls is two shy of his career best that he achieved against Harvard on March 24. Murphy now leads the Patriot League in both faceoff percentage (.594) and ground balls per game (6.60).
