 Rory Finnegan was named director of lacrosse operations at Boston University on Sept. 6, 2017.

In this role, Finnegan will oversee day-to-day operations of both BU lacrosse programs. He will coordinate travel as well as oversee student managers and handle alumni relations. In addition, he will head up both teams' community service and outreach as well as help with on-campus recruiting.

Finnegan arrives at BU after spending last season as an assistant coach at Bowdoin. Along with current men's lacrosse assistant coach Max Silberlicht, Finnegan helped the Polar Bears complete a 10-win campaign in 2017.

Prior to his stint at Bowdoin, Finnegan was the goaltending coach for Hampden-Sydney (Va.) College in 2016. He joined the Tigers after a four-year career at Virginia Wesleyan College. During his time with the Marlins, he was a two-year starter in net, as well as a two-year captain. Finnegan posted 424 saves over his career, to go along with a .570 save percentage. He recorded 19 wins, and led the Marlins to an in-conference program record of seven victories in 2015. He posted career highs in saves against Greensboro College (30) in 2014 and against Guilford College (28) in 2015.

A native of Lowell, Massachusetts, Finnegan graduated from Virginia Wesleyan in 2015 with a degree in international studies.
