Dyment Named Player of the Week

Sophomore defenseman Chris Dyment (Reading, Mass.) has been named the Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week for his efforts in the Terriers' wins over Harvard, Denver, and Colorado College last week.
Dyment had a total of three goals and four assists for seven points as the Terriers skated past Harvard, 2-1; shut out Denver, 4-0; and finished the week with a 5-1 win over Colorado College. At the time of the games, Harvard was ranked 15th in the nation, while Colorado College was eighth.
In the victory over Harvard, Dyment assisted on both goals. He came back three nights later, against Denver, to score a goal and assist on two others, including the game-winner and had a plus-two.
To close out the week, he had the first multiple-goal game of his collegiate career with a pair of goals, both coming on the Terrier power play in the win over Colorado College. He also had a plus-one for the game.
With the points in the three games, Dyment brought his season total to seven goals and six assists for 13 points. He is tied with senior right wing Tommi Degerman (Helsinki, Finland) for the team lead in goals, while he is fourth in total points behind sophomore center Dan Cavanaugh (Springfield, Mass.), who has 4-1418; senior left wing Chris Heron (Mississauga, ONT), who has 5-1116; and Degerman, who has 7-815.
"Chris had a fabulous week for us not just with his offense, but also with his defensive play, said head coach Jack Parker, who had a memorable week himself, as the win over Colorado College was the 600th of his illustrious coaching career. He had seven points, but he also played exceptionally well killing penalties."
In the last four games, the Terriers have yielded just one power play goal in 25 (0.04 percent) attempts. Conversely, the Terriers are 8-for-31 (25.8 percent) over the same span.
"That's one of the reasons why you win hockey games," said Parker.
Dyment's progress this season is a far cry from a year ago when he was sidelined for most of the second half of the season with a left knee injury. In all, he appeared in 15 games and had a goal and five assists.
"We have seen thus far this year just how effective a healthy Chris Dyment is," continued Parker.
