October 12, 2000 | Men's Ice Hockey

The Terrier hockey team will officially open its 2000-01 season on Oct. 13 with a home game against RPI. Faceoff at Walter Brown Arena will be at 7:00 p.m.
A BANNER EVENING: For the 11th straight year, the Terriers will raise a banner prior to the faceoff of their home opener. Dating back to the 1989-90 season, B.U. has had reason to celebrate a Beanpot, Hockey East regular-season or tournament title, a berth in the NCAA finals, or the national championship. On Saturday night (October 14rh), B.U. looks back to last season when the team won its incredible sixth straight Beanpot and sixth Hockey East regular-season title in the past seven years. The parents of two of the key members of that team will be raising the banners. Carolyn and Jim Heron, the parents of assistant captain Chris Heron, will raise the Beanpot banner. Last season, Chris enjoyed his finest collegiate season as he had 18 goals and 25 assists to tie Tommi Degerman for the team lead in points with 43. At season's end, Chris received the Friends/Albert Sidd Award as the team's unsung hero. Annemarie and Bob Corazzini, the parents of Carl, will raise the Hockey East regular-season title banner. An assistant captain on last year's team, Carl also enjoyed his finest season, thus far, with a team-leading 22 goals as well as 20 assists for 42 points. He was also honored at the end of the season with the Eilberg Scholarship as the team's top student-athlete.
