Miller's OT Goal Lifts Terriers Past Black Bears
November 9, 2001 | Men's Ice Hockey

Freshman Bryan Miller (Wayne, NJ) scored his second goal of the game at 2:16 of overtime to lift the Terrier hockey team to a 3-2 come-from-behind win over host University of Maine on Friday night (November 9th).
For the nation's fifth-ranked Terriers, it improved their overall record to 5-0-1 while they are 3-0-1 in the league. In the meantime, Maine, which was ranked 10th in one national poll and 11th in another, slipped to 3-4-1 overall and 1-1-0 in the league.
After a scoreless first period in which Maine outshot B.U. by a 9-7 margin, the Black Bears jumped ahead 1-0 just 1:01 into the second period when Nikos Dimitrakos broke in alone on B.U. netminder Sean Fields (Edmonton, ALTA). Fields got a piece of the puck but it was not enough as it trickled into the net.
The Black Bears, who outshot B.U., 9-8, in the second period, increased their lead to 2-0 just 1:07 into the third period when Tom Reimann scored his fourth goal of the season.
Maine held its two-goal lead for just 36 seconds before Terrier sophomore defenseman Freddy Meyer (Sanbornville, NH) scored his first goal of the season with assists to sophomores Gregg Johnson (Windsor, CT) and Frantisek Skladany (Martin, Slovakia).
Miller, who had been moved back to his normal position on defense after playing the last three games at right wing, scored his first goal of the season at 4:23. Johnson and sophomore Kenny Magowan (Kelowna, BC) picked up the assists on the goal that tied the game.
That's the way the score remained until Miller scored the game-winner at 2:16 of overtime.
Fields improved his record to 5-0-1 with 24 saves, while Maine goalie Mike Morrison made 24 saves.
