Hockey Team Cancels Trip To France

The Terrier hockey team has cancelled its planned trip to France because of the tense situation in the world and "I don't want to put my team at risk in a foreign country," according to Terrier head coach Jack Parker.
The Terriers were scheduled to join the French National Team, the Finnish National B Team, and the Norwegian National B Team at the Mont Blanc Tournament in Meribel, France from December 27-29.
It was to be the first time a B.U. hockey team has played in Europe and, when making the initial announcement of his team's appearance in the tournament, Parker said "It's very exciting, and it will be a great experience for the team. We'll be playing three tough teams, although the games won't count in our record."
However, with the world situation being what it is since the terrorists' attacks on September 11th, Parker decided to cancel the trip.
"The State Department has advised Americans not to travel abroad, and the President has said we are at war," said Parker. The Terriers will open their regular season October 13th with a 7:00 p.m. home game against RPI.
However, fans will have their first opportunity to see this year's B.U. team in action on Friday night (October 5th) when it hosts St. Francis Xavier of Nova Scotia. Faceoff at Walter Brown Arena is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
