NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. - The Boston University hockey Terriers gave up a pair of power-play goals, including the game-tying score midway through the third period, in a 2-2 Hockey East tie at Merrimack on Friday, Nov. 14.

B. U. (2-2-2, 1-2-1 Hockey East) had a number of opportunities to win the game late in the third period and the five-minute overtime.
The Terriers had two opportunities to win the game with under 45 seconds in regulation, as freshman forward Kenny Roche (South Boston, Mass.) spearheaded a two-on-one effort that didn't materialize, and senior forward Frantisek Skladany (Martin, Slovakia) had an open shot from just inside the blueline that went wide with 20 seconds left.
Both teams had scoring opportunities in the overtime. Merrimack had four quality shots in the extra session, but B. U. senior goalie Sean Fields (Edmonton, Alberta) stopped each of them.
B. U. had a power-play chance in the overtime, but failed to convert. The Terriers were credited with 10 power-play shots overall, but went 0-for-6 on the man advantage, extending their streak of unsuccessful power-play opportunities to 21.

Van der Gulik provided the only scoring in the second period, putting the puck above Warriors' junior goalie Casey Guenther's right shoulder and into the net to give B.U. a 2-1 lead 3:21 into the period. Senior forward Gregg Johnson (Windsor, Conn.) and junior defenseman Ryan Whitney (Scituate, Mass.) were credited with assists.

Merrimack senior defenseman Tony Johnson and sophomore defenseman Bryan Schmidt provided the assists on both Warrior goals.
