BOSTON, MA-Freshman defenseman Thomas Morrow, who assisted on two of the five goals and had a plus-3 in the Terriers' 5-1 win over Niagara University on Saturday, December 13th, has been named the Hockey East Superskills Rookie of the Week.
Morrow, a 6-6, 210-pounder from the Minneapolis, MN suburb of Afton, picked up his first assist against Niagara at 16:33 of the second period. He passed the puck up to David Klema (Rosseau, MN) who, after a spin move around a Niagara defenseman down low, slipped the puck over to John Laliberte (Saco, ME). Laliberte pushed the puck into the Niagara net for what proved to be the Terriers' game-winning goal.
Morrow added his second assist at 1:47 of the third period. Again, Klema picked up an assist on the goal scored by Kenny Roche (South Boston, MA). The goal gave the Terriers a 4-1 lead.
It marked the first multiple-point game for Morrow, who has played in all 14 of the Terriers' games this season. In fact, through the team's first 13 games, he had just one assist in the Terriers' 2-1 loss at the University of Maine on November 1st.
Morrow is the fifth Terrier, and second freshman, to be honored by Hockey East this year with a weekly award.
Of the five, two have been named to the weekly honor roll-junior forward Matt Radoslovich (Wanaque, NJ) after scoring a goal and assisting on a second one in the 5-2 win over Rensselaer on October 10th and sophomore defenseman Dan Spang (Winchester, MA) after scoring two goals in the 6-4 win over Providence on October 24th.

Then, sophomore goalie Stephan Siwiec (Calgary, ALTA) was named the Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week after turning aside 30-of-31 shots in the Terriers' 6-1 win over Merrimack on November 15th.
The only other freshman to be honored was defenseman Kevin Schaeffer (South Huntington, NY), who was named the Rookie of the Week after scoring three goals and assisting on two others in the Terriers' games against Harvard, Dartmouth, and Yale on November 25th, 28th, and 30th, respectively. The two assists were against Harvard, while all three goals were scored against Yale. According to available records, it was the first time a B.U. freshman defenseman had scored a hat trick in a game.
The win over Niagara evened the Terriers' record at 5-5-4 overall. It also marked the final game of the team's first-semester schedule. The Terriers' next action will come January 2-3 when they travel to the University of Minnesota for a two-game series.
