Junior forward Mark Mullen, who enjoyed his finest overall season both offensively and defensively for the Terrier hockey team, and First Team JOFA All-American defenseman Freddy Meyer were honored on Wednesday night (April 16th) by the New England hockey writers, coaches, and officials.
Mullen received the Frank Jones Award as New England's top defensive forward, while Meyer was named to the New England All-Star Team.
Mullen, who had been named Hockey East's best defensive forward at the league's banquet in March, appeared in all 42 games for the Terriers this past season. Offensively, he had 13 goals and 14 assists for 27 points, surpassing his best previous high of 8-9-17 in 34 games last season.
He finished second on the team in goals and points, while he was tied for fourth in assists.
However, it was his defensive play that earned him the Jones Award, which is named for the late legendary Boston College trainer.
A member of the Terriers' top penalty-killing unit, Mullen led the team in shorthanded goals with four. One of the four came against the University of Michigan in the Terriers' 5-4 title-game win over the Wolverines at the Great Lakes Invitational. Mullen also chipped in with two assists in the game and was named to the All-Tournament Team.

Meyer, who became only the 12th Terrier defenseman ever to be named First Team All-American, was one of 12 players named to the All-New England Team. A First Team All-Hockey East selection, Meyer had his best offensive season despite missing six of the team's 42 games. He finished with a career-best 21 points along with a personal-high 16 assists.
Third on the team in plus-minus with a plus-18, his biggest goal of the season came against Harvard in the Beanpot opener. The goal proved to be the game-winner. In addition, he assisted on the Terriers' first goal of the game, as they skated to a 2-1 win over the Crimson. The following week, B.U. defeated Boston College, 3-2, in the title game to skate off with its 25th Beanpot title.
