Terriers Place Third at Quad Meet

RESULTS

BOSTON - Sophomore Jessica Iannacci (Lunenberg, MA), freshman Marissa Ryan (Farmington, CT) and Victoria Bottecelli placed first, second and fourth, respectively, in the 3000-meter run help pace the host Terriers women's track and field team to a third place finish at the quad meet held on January 20th, 2004 at the Track and Tennis Center. The Terriers finished with 58 points, trailing Boston College, which had 101 points, and UMass Amherst, which finished with 64. Sacred Heart finished fourth with 30 points.

Ianacci, who finished first in a time of 10:01.53, was one of five Terrier athletes to place first on the day. The Terriers also took two of the top three spots in the 1000-meter event, as freshman Abbey Sadowski (Voluntown, CT) and senior teammate Julia Nazzer (Wanganuii, N.Z.) each placed first and third, respectively.

In the 800-meter event, the Terriers took four of the top six positions as senior Jessica Walton (Fonda, NY) placed second in 2:19.81. Three freshmen, Amy Dannwolf (Brick Township, PA), Elizabeth Wilson (Ridgefield, CT) and Leslie Schneider (Acton, MA) took fourth, fifth and sixth in the event.

Sophomore Erin Cadden (Allentown, PA) and Apryl Holder notched two more first-place finishes for the Terriers. Cadden completed the 55-meter hurdles in 8.56 seconds, beating Kasey Hill of Boston College, while Holder took the 400-meter run in 1:02.15 minutes.

In the field events, senior Mary Ellen Bingham (Boston, MA) took first in the triple jump with a distance of 11.55 meters, while junior Elisa Miller (Moon Township, PA) placed third in the pole vault with a height of 2.9 meters.

Next up, the Terrier women will compete in the Terrier Classic on January 30-31, 2004 at the Track and Tennis Center.
