June 28, 2004 | Men's Ice Hockey

Schaeffer, a native of South Huntington, NY, led all Terrier blueliners in scoring in 2003-04 with 17 points on five goals and 12 assists. The 6-1, 190 pound Schaeffer, who appeared in all 38 games for B.U., finished sixth in scoring on the team, while his +7 defensive rating placed him second on the team behind defenseman Dan Spang, who was +8. He was named to the Hockey East All-Rookie Team following the 2003-04 season.
He is the 10th current Terrier to be chosen in the NHL draft, joining teammates David Klema (2001, 5th round, Phoenix), Brian McConnell (2002, 2nd round, Calgary), Spang (2002, 2nd round, San Jose), John Laliberte (2002, 4th round, Vancouver), Jekabs Redlihs (2002, 4th round, Columbus), David Van der Gulik (2002, 7th round, Calgary), Kenny Roche (2003, 3rd round, NY Rangers), Tom Morrow (2003, 5th round, Buffalo), and Sean Sullivan (2003, 9th round, Phoenix).

The Terriers finished the 2003-04 season with a 12-17-9 record, but upset the top-seeded Boston College Eagles in the opening round of the Hockey East playoffs before falling to eventual NCAA runner-up Maine, 1-0, in the semifinals.
