BOSTON - The No. 20 Terriers take on fellow Comm. Ave. resident No. 6 Boston College in their fourth-consecutive match-up with a ranked opponent. Friday???s cross-town clash is set for 8:08 p.m. at Kelley Rink, while the rivals will make the two-mile trip back down the B-line for a 7:00 p.m. game at Jack Parker Rink on Saturday.
The heated rivalry is sure to set fire on ice as BC is 5-1-1 in their last six games and is hot off a 3-0 shutout of Merrimack. On the other hand, the Terriers went 1-1-1 against some of the nation???s finest last week, most recently falling to No. 2 Colorado College, 6-5, in overtime. BU will look to improve on its 4-5-2 overall record and 3-3-1 Hockey East mark as it embarks on its first league game in two weeks. The Eagles are 6-3-1 overall and 5-1-1 in the league.
The cross-town rivals have met 226 times and the Terriers lead the series, 114-98-15 (.535). BU began playing hockey during the 1917-18 season and the Terriers??? lone game was against the Eagles. No other opponent has appeared on the Terrier schedule more often. In fact, Northeastern is the next closest, and the Terriers and Huskies have met 187 times since the 1930-31 season.
After taking on Harvard last week in a prelude to February???s Beanpot opener between the two teams, the Terriers are facing a possible second Beanpot opponent in the Eagles. The two teams could meet for the 36th time in the Beanpot in the title game on Feb. 13 if they each win their first-round games. The Terriers enjoy a 25-10 (.714) edge in the previous 35 ???Pot match-ups.
Friday???s game will air live on College Sports Television, featuring Eric Frede and Dave Starman calling the action. In addition, the game will be broadcast live on the radio. Throughout the metro-Boston area, WTTT-AM (1150) will host Bernie Corbett, who is in his 21st season as the ???voice of the Terriers,??? doing play-by-play, along with Tom Ryan offering the color commentary. The live feed can also be accessed via audiocast through goterriers.com. In addition, BU???s student radio station, WTBU, will broadcast live from wtburadio.org, 89.3 FM and 640 AM.
Although Saturday???s game will not be televised, it will be on the above radio stations, with the exception of WTTT, which will be substituted for WBUR-FM (90.9).
