BOSTON - Sophomore guard Corey Lowe (Newton, Mass.) tallied his first career double-double with 23 points and a career-best 10 rebounds to lead the Boston University men's basketball team (2-6) to a 79-72 victory over cross-town rival Harvard (4-5) Tuesday evening in Case Gymnasium. This was BU's seventh straight win over the Crimson and 14th in the last 15 games.

With the win, BU ends a six-game losing streak.

Lowe shot 8-for-18 from the floor, including 6-for-10 from the 3-point line to earn America East Player of the Game honors. Classmate and runningmate Carlos Strong (Portland, Maine) added 22 points on 8-for-15 shooting (5-for-8 from three) as well as four rebounds, four assists and two blocks.

Sophomore forward Scott Brittain (Oakville, Ont.) and junior guard Marques Johnson (Hazlet, N.J.) were the other two Terriers in double figures. Brittain tallied a career-best 17 points on 6-for-9 shooting with eight rebounds and five blocks - a personal best. Johnson scored a career-high 11 points and dished out seven assists to record another career best.

Drew Housman's 21 points led Harvard. He was followed by Andrew Pusar's 18 points and Pat Magnarelli's 11 points and seven rebounds.

The Terriers ran out to an 11-6 first-half lead on three 3-pointers from Lowe and Strong and a lay up by Brittain. BU stayed out in front, pushing its lead to 25-19 at 9:36 after Strong went on a personal 11-0 run in the middle of the first. Harvard briefly took the advantage, 26-25, on a jumper by Housman at 8:28, but BU answered with a 10-2 run punctuated by a steal from Johnson who fed junior guard Matt Wolff (Walpole, Mass.) for a lay up with 5:17 remaining in the half.

BU went into the break up 44-37 and shooting a season-high 58.1 percent from the floor (18-for-31). The Terriers were out in front despite not making it to the free throw line once in the first half, while Harvard went 10-for-10.

Boston University overcame a slow start to the second half that saw Harvard trim BU's lead to two, 50-48, at 15:07 on a lay up by Magnarelli. The Crimson cut the Terriers' edge further - to one point twice in the next minute and a half - but BU stretched its advantage back to nine points on the strength of two Lowe threes and a pair of Brittain free throws at 9:53.

The Terriers took a 10-point lead, 66-56, on another Brittain lay up with 7:15 to go in the game. Harvard didn't quit, however, and threatened at 1:34 by cutting BU's advantage to five, 77-72, on a Magnarelli lay up. But Johnson drew a foul and hit both free throws for the final margin.

BU made 12-of-23 3-point attempts to record its highest shooting percentage from long range since going 13-for-26 (50.0 percent) against Binghamton on Feb. 8, 2007.

Boston University head coach Dennis Wolff is now 13-1 all-time against the Crimson and Tuesday's win ties BU's longest win streak - seven games - against Harvard. The game also marks the second-straight contest BU has had two 20-plus point scorers.

The Terriers have a six-day break before traveling to Connecticut to face Yale on Tuesday, Dec. 11 at 7:30 p.m.
