BOSTON - After completing their careers with the Boston University men's ice hockey team, seniors Kenny Roche and Sean Sullivan will immediately move on to the professional stage, as the two have signed Amateur Tryout (ATO) agreements with the American Hockey League's Hartford Wolf Pack and San Antonio Rampage, respectively.
Roche, who served as an assistant captain for the Terriers this season, was a third-round selection (75th overall) by the New York Rangers in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft and will join the Wolf Pack for the remainder of their season.
During his four years at BU, Roche played in 154 contests - good for 10th all-time - and totaled 89 points on 43 goals and 46 assists. This season, the winger finished third on the squad in both goals (12) and points (29), while tying for third in assists (17). Roche was a Hockey East Honorable Mention All-Star and was named the league's Co-Player of the Week on Nov. 13 after recording a natural hat trick in a 4-4 draw at New Hampshire.
The captain of the 2006-07 Terriers, Sullivan will suit up for the Phoenix Coyotes' AHL affiliate after being selected by the organization in the ninth round (272nd overall) of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft. Sullivan and the Coyotes agreed to a multi-year contract that will begin with the 2007-08 season.
Sullivan played in 155 contests for the Terriers, a total that ties him for seventh in program history. The blue-liner recorded 43 points in his career, including 34 assists. A 2007 Hockey East First Team All-Star, Sullivan tallied three goals and 12 assists this season and was the recipient of the league's Old Time Hockey Best Defensive Defenseman award.
