COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Terriers scored two runs in the fourth and fifth innings to claim a 4-0 shutout victory over South Dakota State on Saturday evening in Columbia, Mo. Junior Christy Leath smacked a two-run home run in the fifth to lead the Boston University softball team with two RBI.Sophomore Cassidi Hardy pitched a complete-game shutout, striking out four batters and allowing two hits. BU improves to 2-5 overall and will face Missouri and South Dakota State on Saturday on the second day of the tourney.

Junior Melissa Dubay was 2-for-3 with one run, while freshman Melanie Delgado picked up the game-winning RBI in the fourth frame. Junior Christy Leath earned a game-high two RBI with a home run to left field in the fifth.

After Hebert put the Terriers up by one in the fourth, BU tacked on another on the next at-bat when Dubay crossed home on senior Molly Gallagher's fielder's choice. BU rounded out its scoring in the fifth with Leath's two-run long ball.

Hardy was solid in the pitcher's circle with her second shutout of the year, giving up just two hits against 27 batters. She struck out four and walked three.

BU will return to action on Saturday with a 4:15 p.m. game against host-school Missouri before taking on South Dakota State at 6:30 p.m.
