BOSTON - The Boston University women's rowing team will co-host the second annual Beanpot on Saturday, May 3 on the Charles River, beginning at 6:48 a.m. The Terriers will also compete for the Allen-DeWolfe trophy with Radcliffe in the varsity race at 8:48 a.m.

Also racing are Boston College, MIT and Northeastern.

Last year Radcliffe won both the varsity cup and the team banner by winning the varsity, JV, V4+A and novice eight races. The Crimson also retook the Allen-DeWolfe trophy after BU earned it in 2006 with a come-from-behind victory after being down a length at 1000m.

In the history for the Allen-DeWolfe trophy, Radcliffe has an 8-2 overall lead in the series. The Terriers' win in 2006 was their second in the 10 years the cup has been contested.

Radcliffe is tied for seventh this week in the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association/USRowing national poll and are coming off a win over then-No. 3 Virginia last weekend. Northeastern is just outside the top 20, receiving 24 votes. The Huskies are 9-1 on the year after defeating UMass by 23 seconds. MIT finished second to URI in the Engineers' last outing, while Boston College placed sixth in the ACC Championships last weekend.

Boston University did not race last weekend after co-hosting the Charles River Challenge on the weekend of April 19-20.

During Saturday's races, the crews will be wearing pink to raise awareness about breast cancer as well as funds for breast cancer research. A representative from the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation will distribute information at the finish line and accept donations for the foundation.

Next up for the Terriers is the Eastern Sprints on Sunday, May 18 in Camden, N.J. on the Cooper River.
