Game One | Game Two

ALBANY, N.Y. - The Boston University softball team dropped two to Albany on Saturday afternoon and will play the series finale on Sunday at noon to determine the regular-season champion and top seed in the America East tournament. In the first game, UA claimed a 7-0 victory and followed up with a 3-2 win in the second contest to take the doubleheader. The Terriers fall to 29-20 overall and 15-5 in the America East, while the Great Danes improve to 31-15 overall and 15-5 in the conference.

In the first game, the Terriers collected four hits, but were unable to generate any runs as Albany's Leah McIntosh struck out 15 batters and issued four walks to garner the victory. Sophomore Cassidi Hardy (14-6) was charged with the loss, surrendering seven runs on six hits, while senior Tyler Benson was 2-for-3 in the batter's box.

Albany got on the board early with two runs in the bottom of the first on an error and a ground out, and it tacked on more in the third on an RBI double down the left line. In the fifth, the Great Danes extended their lead to seven on a grand slam to left field. In the top of the seventh, BU threatened with the bases loaded but a ground out to shortstop ended the contest.

In game two, junior Melissa Dubay was 2-for-4 in the batter's box and classmate Brooke Hudson drove in one run; however, the Great Danes capitalized on a fielding error to score two and tallied the game-winner on a double. Sophomore Megan Currier (9-9) pitched a complete game, allowing three runs - two earned - on seven hits, while striking out one batter and issuing two walks.

BU quickly scored in the first with two runs on an error and Hudson's RBI single. Sophomore Rachel Moeller drew a walk to load the bases one at-bat later; however, Albany's Marissa Powell forced a ground out to get out of the jam. In the bottom half of the frame, the Great Danes responded with two runs on two hits to tie the contest. Albany then took the one-run advantage in the fourth on an RBI double to right center.

The Terriers and Great Danes will face off one more time tomorrow at noon to determine the regular-season champion and top seed in the America East tournament.
