In just her first season in the scarlet and white, freshman April Setterlund made a tremendous impact on the Boston University softball team and was named the team MVP following a vote by the team after the 2008 campaign concluded.
The 2008 America East Rookie of the Year, earned spots on the America East All-Conference First Team, ECAC Division I All-Star Second Team and the TPS Louisville Slugger Second Team All-Northeast Region. Her resume includes a batting average of .354, 34 runs, 58 hits, 12 doubles and 15 RBI. In 2008, the center fielder led the team in batting average, runs, hits, doubles and fielding percentage (1.000). She had 17 multiple hit games and hit above .350 with runners in scoring position.
Her single-season efforts have already placed in her name in the records books for hits (8th; 58), doubles (T-2nd; 12) and runs (T-7th; 34). A well-rounded student, Setterlund also earned America East Academic Honor roll status for maintaining a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
