Clearwater, Fla. - The Boston University softball team improved to 8-2 on the season with two shutout victories over Robert Morris, 4-0, and Connecticut, 3-0, on Saturday afternoon at the USF Under Armour Invitational. The Terriers' pitching staff continued its strong play allowing no runs for the fourth straight game.

Senior Melissa Dubay continued her impressive season with two RBI in the Terriers' three-run win over UConn, while sophomore Caitlin Rentler provided the heroics vs. Robert Morris with a double that plated two runners.

Freshman Kelley Engman allowed just two hits over seven innings against Robert Morris, striking out two batters in her first shutout of the season. Junior Megan Currier went the distance in BU's second game, taking a perfect game into the fifth inning and going on to earn her third win of the young season.

Against Robert Morris, BU scored all the runs it would need in the fourth inning as Rentler's two-run double broke a scoreless deadlock. On the next at-bat, she scored on senior Brooke Hudson's double and a triple from sophomore April Setterlund allowed Hudson to cross home plate for the final run of the game.

Following the four-run outburst in the fourth, the Terriers' strong defense took over, allowing no runner past second and Engman retired six consecutive batters to secure the victory.

In the Terriers' following game against the Huskies sophomore Rachel Hebert went 2-for-4 with one RBI, while Dubay knocked in two runs for her team-high 11th RBI of the season.

Dubay provided the game-winning RBI in the top of the first inning that plated Setterlund, who had reached base on a triple to center field. Another run would not cross home plate until the top of the seventh when Dubay drove in Setterlund and Hebert plated Dubay on back-to-back singles.

BU will return to action on Sunday (March 8) at 11 a.m.
