Storrs, Conn. - With an RBI single in the bottom of the eighth, Connecticut (18-11) took one from the Boston University softball team (20-10) on Thursday afternoon as the Terriers dropped a 2-1 decision to the Huskies in extra innings. Sophomore Caitlin Rentler scored BU's lone run in the second inning on an RBI double from freshman Emily Roesch.

Junior Megan Currier (6-4) was charged with the loss, striking out one batter and allowing two runs on seven hits. Senior Melissa Dubay went 2-for-4 from the batter's box to lead a six-hit effort from BU's offense.

Roesch drove in Rentler in the top of the second when she doubled to center field on a 2-1 count, which tied the game at one - a score that would stand for nearly six frames before the Huskies' game-winning single. In the bottom of the eighth with two outs, UConn broke the stalemate when Justyne Roy singled up the middle to plate the go-ahead run.

BU will look to bounce back this weekend when it returns to America East action with a three-game series with UMBC. First pitch is set for Saturday at 1 p.m. at BU Softball Field.
