Box Score

Burlington, Vt. - The Boston University softball team's (24-15, 12-5 AE) bats exploded for 14 hits in six innings as it topped Vermont (7-36, 3-15 AE), 11-2, in the finale of the squads' three-game series on Sunday afternoon. Seniors Brooke Hudson and Nora Militz combined to drive in seven runs as the Terriers crossed home plate in four of the six innings played. Junior Cassidi Hardy made her 105th appearance as a Terrier, breaking a program record.

Hardy went the distance in the win, with six strikeouts and two walks, scattering five hits over six innings. The Jupiter, Fla., native improved to 18-5 in the pitcher's circle.

Five Terriers had multiple-game hits, led by Militz and senior Shayne Lotito who went a combined 6-for-8. Militz recorded a three-run home run in the third inning, as BU pulled away for good for the Catamounts, who at the time had the game tied at 1-1.

In the sixth frame, Hudson capped off the contest with a grand slam to center field - her first home run of the season.

Vermont scored in the first and sixth innings, but the Terriers had created too much of a gap for the home squad to close in on.

BU will host a pair of non-conference games this week against Boston College (April 29) and Harvard (April 30) before closing out the America East regular season at Binghamton on May 2 and May 3.
