The Boston University women's ice hockey team wraps up its season series with defending Hockey East champion New Hampshire on Saturday (Feb. 6) at 2 p.m. in Durham, N.H. The Wildcats, ranked fourth in the nation, lead the Terriers by two points in the Hockey East standings, meaning a BU win would draw the two teams level.
Since the start of last season, the Terriers have gone 1-1-3 against New Hampshire, but all three ties turned into shootout wins for BU. Earlier this season, the two squads met for a home-and-home series in November with the Wildcats winning, 4-3, in Boston and the Terriers taking the shootout after a 4-4 tie in New Hampshire the next day. Freshman Jill Cardella notched two goals and an assist for BU in the two-game series.
The Terriers, who have not played to the same result in consecutive games since November, are seeking to break out of a three-game winless streak that saw two ties with Northeastern sandwiched around a loss to Connecticut. In Tuesday's Beanpot semifinals, the Terriers rallied from a 4-0 deficit to force overtime and earn a tie against Northeastern, but fell in a shootout. Junior Holly Lorms scored two goals for the Terriers in the comeback bid.
After Saturday's game, the Terriers face Boston College in the Beanpot third-place game on Tuesday, then return home to host Northeastern on Saturday (Feb. 13) at Walter Brown Arena. Please note that the start time for next Saturday's game has been moved to 2 p.m., following the team's alumnae game at 10:15 a.m.
