
Haber, Watchorn Honored by Hockey East

WAKEFIELD, Mass. - Senior goaltender Melissa Haber and sophomore defenseman Tara Watchorn were both honored by Hockey East for the second straight week after leading the Hockey East champion Boston University women's ice hockey team in its first-ever appearance in the NCAA tournament. Haber was named the Women's Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week, while Watchorn was the Pure Hockey Co-Player of the Week.
Watchorn scored the lone goal for the eighth-ranked Terriers in their 4-1 loss to top-ranked Mercyhurst in the NCAA quarterfinals on Saturday. Watchorn also scored the overtime game-winner in the Hockey East championship game and finished her sophomore season with 17 points (3g, 14a). The Newcastle, Ont., native was named a Hockey East All-Star for the second season in a row.
Haber made 29 saves in the NCAA tournament game and finished the season with a 2.05 goals-against average and .922 save percentage, along with a 15-8-8 record. The Toronto native was selected as a Hockey East All-Star this season and concludes her career with a program-record 2.24 goals-against average.
