In all, BU recorded 14 hits and seven runs through two games. Through the doubleheader, the Terriers had one double, two triples and five RBIs. Additionally, Setterlund is now one hit away from tying the single-season record, which was set just last season by Shayne Lotito ('09) and stands at 71.
After a scoreless first inning, freshman Taylor Cowan put one up on the scoreboard as she plated Moeller on an RBI single. After two scoreless innings passed, BU tacked on two more in the fourth, as Valdes singled through the right side, bringing home two runners - Rentler and Tuthill. In the sixth frame, the Terriers added two insurance runs as sophomore Kayla Kruper, who was pinch running for Rentler, scored on a wild pitch and Valdes came home off a double by Hebert.
With five runs scored, Hardy continued to shutdown any Black Bear attempts at a rally, as Maine grounded out in three straight at-bats in the sixth, and in the seventh two grounds out and a strikeout completed the impressive win.
In game two, BU struck first with two runs in the third on a two-run single from Setterlund that plated Hebert and Valdes. The lead was short-lived however, as the Black Bears responded in the third with three runs off four hits, including a two-run double to right field.
In the fifth, Maine made it a two-run game as it tacked on one more on an RBI single and the home squad completed the victory with a three-run home run in the sixth that rounded out the scoring at 7-2.
