BOSTON - Trailing by six with seven minutes remaining, the Boston University men's basketball team went on a 11-0 run and hit its free throws down the stretch to defeat Binghamton, 71-66, on Wednesday night at Agganis Arena. Earning their fourth-straight win at home, the Terriers improve to 10-12 and 5-3 in conference action.

Junior Darryl Partin had a team-high 20 points and eight rebounds to earn America East Player of the Game honors. Senior John Holland recorded 16 points to move within 23 of 2,000 career points, while freshman Dom Morris matched his season high with 15. Junior Matt Griffin recorded a season-high seven boards to help the Terriers out-rebound the Bearcats, 41-40.

Binghamton (6-15, 3-5 AE) had four men score in double figures, including a strong effort from Mahamoud Jabbi. The Bearcats' AE Player of the Game finished with a game-high 22 points and 10 rebounds, but the Terriers held him to just six points in the second half for the victory. Moussa Camara tallied 15 points, while Kyrie Sutton and Jimmy Gray had 12 and 10, respectively.

Behind 62-56 with 7:03 left in the contest after a Javon Ralling layup, the Terriers immediately cut the lead in half with a 3-pointer from Griffin. BU's next eight points came from the charity stripe with Holland hitting the first six attempts and Partin adding two more for a five-point edge with 2:08 left. During the five-minute stretch, Binghamton went 0-for-8 and had three turnovers.

Camara stopped the run with a jumper at 1:53, and Jimmy Gray cut the deficit to one with 33 seconds on the clock. Quickly fouled, freshman D.J. Irving drained his two free throws, and then the Terriers' perimeter defense prevented Binghamton from hitting one of its two 3-point attempts. Morris grabbed his fifth rebound of the game with six seconds remaining and nailed his free throws.

Tipping off at 9:30 p.m. after the BU women earlier in the evening earned a 65-60 win over the Bearcats, the men started with a fast pace that saw both squads going on offensive spurts. After a quick jumper by Kyrie Sutton, the Terriers went on a 10-0 run with Morris and Holland each hitting 3-pointers.

Facing a five-point deficit at 16-11, the Bearcats went on a 17-3 run of their own with Jabbi contributing nine points off a 3-pointer and three consecutive jumpers. After Pelage hit a layup with 5:23 left in the half, Jabbi hit another to push the Bearcats' lead back to nine.

Partin put the Terriers back on track with a layup and an assist on Irving's 3-pointer. After Jabbi hit his seventh shot on his ninth attempt in the first half, Partin nailed a 3-pointer. Irving later cut the deficit to one after junior Jeff Pelage grabbed an offensive rebound at 1:12. Binghamton missed two 3-pointers, and Holland drew a foul driving to the basket before time expired. He made his two free throws to give BU a 33-32 lead heading into the locker room.

Junior Patrick Hazel opened the second with a layup, but Jabbi scored a 3-pointer to tie the contest. He hit his final field goal of the night at 14:54 for a 44-41 lead. Both teams continued to exchange baskets with Camara giving Binghamton its largest lead (60-54) of the half at 8:25 when he made all three free throws after enticing a foul while attempting a 3-pointer. Ralling maintained the six-point lead with assistance from Gray before BU's surge began.

The Terriers went 22-of-59 (.373) from the field but were an impressive 15-of-17 (.882) in the second half at the line to finish 19-of-25 (.760). Irving recorded five assists, as BU finished with a season-low six turnovers. The Bearcats shot 48.3 percent in the first 20 minutes but were held to 31.4 percent in the final 20 to finish 25-of-64 (.391). They also hit just 7-of-25 (.280) from beyond the arc and went to the line only 13 times.

Improving to 15-5 all-time in the series, the Terriers will next take a day trip to New Hampshire on Saturday (Jan. 29) for a 3 p.m. tip-off.
