Men's Basketball Falls at Texas, 82-46

AUSTIN, Texas - Competing in the opening round of the TicketCity Legends Classic, the Boston University men's basketball team fell at the University of Texas, 82-46, on Sunday night in the Frank Erwin Center.

For the second consecutive game, senior Darryl Partin led the Terriers (0-2) in scoring with 14 points, while sophomore D.J. Irving finished in double figures again with 10 points. Classmate Dom Morris hauled in a game-high seven boards to help BU out-rebound Texas, 43-35.

Meeting BU for the first time ever, the Longhorns (1-0) were led by J'Covan Brown, who tallied a game-high 28 points along with eight assists. Julien Lewis added 18 points, and Alexis Wangmene led the defensive effort with five blocks and seven rebounds.

After senior Matt Griffin drained a 3-pointer to cut a four-point deficit to one (19-18) with 6:02 left in the first half, Texas went on a 12-3 run to enter the locker room with a 10-point advantage.

The Longhorns did not allow BU to regroup by starting the second half with a 7-0 offensive spurt to extend the lead to 38-21. The Terriers moved within 14 (40-26) on a layup by Partin with 17:10 remaining, but Texas responded with a 13-3 run to pull away for the win.

BU will continue the Legends Classic at the University of Rhode Island on Nov. 25-27. Before visiting URI though, the Terriers will travel to Cornell on Sunday, Nov. 20. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m.
