Senior goaltender Kieran Millan has been named Hockey East Player of the Week and Boston University was selected as the Hockey East Team of the Week, it was announced by the league office on Monday.
Millan led the Terriers to a pair of come-from-behind road wins over New Hampshire and Maine to close out the first half of the season, as the senior netminder stopped 58 of the 60 shots he faced over the two contests, allowing just one goal each night. He recorded 28 saves in a 2-1 win over the Wildcats on Thursday before following that up with a 30-save effort on Saturday versus the Black Bears.
Late in Saturday's game, Millan broke BU's record for career saves and now has 3,057 over his four years with the Terriers to eclipse the previous mark of 3,055 held by Sean Fields '04.
This is the second time in his career that Millan has received Player of the Week honors from the league and the first since March 16, 2009. He is an eight-time Defensive Player of the Week honoree.
For the season, Millan has an 8-5-1 record and a .917 save percentage to go along with a 2.68 goals-against average.
With the two victories, BU jumped up to No. 9 in both national polls. The Terriers will take a three-week break from the schedule for finals and the holidays before visiting No. 6 Notre Dame on New Year's Eve.
