NEW YORK, N.Y. - Playing in his first-ever game at Madison Square Garden, Bronx native and senior John Holland scored a game-high 25 points to lead the Boston University men's basketball team past Albany, 63-44. With the two-game sweep over the Great Danes, the Terriers improve to 13-13 and 8-4 in conference play.

With BU ahead just 40-36 with 13:20 remaining, Holland keyed a 17-0 run with 12 points over the next eight minutes. Named America East Player of the Game, he started the spurt with a dunk and then capped it with four straight free throws to give the Terriers a 57-36 lead with 3:16 left on the clock.

Moving into eighth-place all-time in the league record book for scoring with 2,053 points, he finished the game 8-of-14 and 3-of-4 from beyond the arc. Junior Darryl Partin contributed 14 points, while classmate Patrick Hazel posted a game-high seven rebounds.

Shooting 52.4 percent in the first half to take a commanding 32-21 lead into the locker room, BU ended the game 22-of-48 (.458) and a blistering 9-of-17 (.529) in 3-point territory. The Terriers also missed just one free throw to go 10-of-11 (.909) at the charity stripe.

Led by AE Player of the Game Logan Aronhalt's 12 points and six rebounds, the Great Danes (12-14, 5-7 AE) shot 16-of-47 (.340) from the game, including 6-of-21 (.286) from beyond the arc. UA had a 30-28 edge in rebounds and had the same amount of turnovers, nine apiece.

Improving to 2-2 all-time at MSG with its first win since a 1959 60-58 NCAA tournament victory over UConn, BU will next host Hartford on Saturday (Feb. 12) with action slated to begin at 7 p.m.

The Terriers will honor Holland and senior team manager Fran Brown before the start of the contest as part of the Senior Day festivities.
