TAMPA, Fla. - On Friday night, the Boston University softball team (10-6) picked up two victories over Kent State, 10-9 in nine innings, and FAMU, 7-0. Freshman Megan Volpano hit .500 (4-for-8) with three RBI, while senior April Setterlund was 2-for-4 with three RBI.

In the pitcher's circle, freshman Holli Floetker picked up the win against Kent State, pitching the final seven frames of the extra inning game. Floetker gave up eight runs, but only three were earned, as she struck out eight batters and issued just three walks as she faced 35 batters. Sophomore Whitney Tuthill pitched the first two innings of that contest with one unearned run, one strikeout and two walks. Sophomore Erin Schuppert pitched in the 7-0 victory over FAMU, as she struck out seven and gave up five hits in the complete-game shutout.

After battling through eight and a half innings and down by one, red-shirt freshman Chelsea Kehr singled up the middle to bring junior Erica Casaccci home in the bottom of the ninth. Two at-bats later, BU took advantage of an error at shortstop as Kehr came across home for the game-winning run.

After Kent State took an early 4-0 lead, BU finally got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the third as red-shirt freshman Jayme Mask scored after tagging up on a flyout to centerfield.

Three scoreless innings later, Kent State upped its lead to 5-1 in the sixth, however, the Terriers exploded for five runs in the bottom half of the frame, Casacci got things going with an RBI single to center field. Setterlund followed up with a two-run double. Casacci later scored BU's fifth run, and Setterlund came home on a single.

Kent State scored two in the seventh, and BU tied the game in the bottom half of the frame on an error at the mound to send the contest into extra innings. In the eighth, both squads scored on RBI singles. In the bottom of the ninth and down by one, Kehr came through in the clutch with an RBI single that knotted the score at 9-9. Two at-bats later the favor was returned to her as she crossed home to seal the victory for BU.

The night game was a little easier for the Terriers as they scored twice right off the bat on a fielder's choice and a passed ball. In the third, BU tacked on three more as Kehr ripped a triple down the right field line to plate Casacci, and junior Melanie Delgado brought home Volpano. The Terriers capped off the prolific afternoon with two additional runs.
