CLEMSON, S.C. - After spending a week training at Clemson, the Boston University women's rowing team raced against six other squads, including the host school, on Saturday morning.
In the top race of the day, the Terriers' varsity eight boat stroked by Brittany Tovee and coxed by Alex Thornton recorded a fourth-place finish on the 2,000-meter course, finishing 0.62 seconds behind Alabama and 3.32 seconds ahead of Syracuse. Purdue and Marist finished fifth and sixth, respectively.
The Tigers won the V8 race at 6:39.85, and Indiana placed second at 6:45.17.
The 2V4 boat stroked by Gabby Cutler and coxed by Hannah Rooney had the best result for BU, placing second at 7:57.64, nine seconds behind the Tigers and seven seconds ahead of the Crimson Tide.
The Terriers will return from the Spring Break trip and host Syracuse next Saturday (March 26) at the DeWolfe Boathouse with the Kittel Cup up for grabs.
