BOSTON - The Boston University softball team (34-18) fell to Albany (28-21), 3-1, in the America East championship game on Saturday afternoon at BU Softball Field. Redshirt freshman Jayme Mask scored the Terriers' lone run of the game.

Senior April Setterlund and freshmen Amy Ekart and Holli Floetker were named to the AE All-Championship team. In the tourney, Setterlund batted .500 (6-for-12) with a double, a home run and a tournament-best six RBIs, while Ekart hit a tournament-best .545 (6-for-11) with two runs and a double. Floetker logged 15.2 innings and was 2-1 in the tourney with 19 strikeouts. She held opposing offenses to a stingy .145 batting average in three appearances and surrendered just four runs - one earned - on eight hits.

In the championship game, BU mustered two hits off Albany's Brittany MacFawn, who carried a perfect game into the bottom of the fourth frame until Mask broke it up with an infield single. Freshman Megan Volpano drove in the Terriers' lone run when she roped an RBI double to left center, plating Mask, who finished the tournament with five runs.

Floetker got the start and went 2.1 innings with two strikeouts and a walk. Three unearned runs were scored on three hits and two errors. Floekter left in the middle of the third after getting hit with a line drive to the lower arm. Sophomore hurler Erin Schuppert finished out the game, throwing 4.2 shutout innings, striking out a career-high eight batters and issuing a walk.

Albany took advantage of two fielding errors in the third inning to take a 3-0 lead. After Melissa Herndon reached first on an error, Andrianna Walraven doubled to left field to put two runners in scoring position. An error brought Herndon home and Katie Wambold drove in the final two runs on a single.

BU broke up MacFawn's perfect game in the fourth inning with two hits and one run. Mask was the Terriers' first base runner after she reached on an infield single and junior Erica Casacci moved her to second on a sacrifice bunt. With two outs, Volpano unleashed a double to right center to bring Mask home.

Both pitchers did not allow a single base runner over the final three innings as Albany's 3-1 lead held as the final score.
