STORRS, Conn. - The Boston University softball team had its eight game winning streak come to an end on Wednesday afternoon as the Terriers fell to Connecticut, 3-0, in Storrs, Conn. BU's record now stands at 19-9 overall and 3-0 in America East play.

The Terriers held the advantage in hits on the afternoon, as BU recorded nine during the game while Connecticut posted eight, but the Terriers were unable to drive in any runs for just the third time in 28 games this season.

Sophomore Jayme Mask led BU with three hits on the afternoon while six other Terriers recorded a hit. Junior Whitney Tuthill was charged with the loss after pitching the first two innings and giving up two earned runs and five hits. Classmate Erin Schuppert stepped in during the third inning and gave up just one hit but also allowed a run. Sophomore Holli Floetker closed out the game for the Terriers by striking out four batters and allowing two hits.

The Huskies posted their first run in the bottom of the first with Emily O'Donnell reaching on a double to center field and Amy Vaughn driving her home with a single up the middle to give Connecticut the 1-0 advantage.

After a scoreless second inning, in which the Terriers left three runners on base, Connecticut tacked on two more runs with Marissa Guches knocking a two-run homer to left field to put the Huskies on top, 3-0.

The remainder of the game was a stalemate, as both teams were held scoreless through the final innings. BU had a runner in scoring opportunity in the top of the fourth, with senior Erica Casacci reaching on a single to shortstop and advancing to second with a bunt by Mask, but a strikeout ended the inning without a run being scored.

The Terriers again left two on base in the top of the fifth. Sophomore Amy Ekart and junior Emily Roesch were on first and second, respectively, and both advanced a base on a wild pitch before the inning ended with the two left in scoring position.
