Four former Boston University hockey players celebrated a Stanley Cup victory on Monday when the Los Angeles Kings claimed their first NHL title in the franchise's 45-year history.
Jack Ferreira '66, a former All-America goaltender for the Terriers, is a special assistant to Kings president and general manager Jack Lombardi.
Steve Greeley '04 serves as one of the organization's pro scouts while classmate Mark Mullen, captain of the 2003-04 Terrier squad, is a collegiate scout for Los Angeles.
Bob Crocker '55, who served as an assistant coach for the Terriers from 1963-72 and was also BU's head baseball coach, is the Kings' amateur scout in the Northeast. This past weekend, Crocker was honored on Cape Cod at an event attended by nearly 50 BU hockey alumni.
Not to be forgotten, Mark Bavis '93 was working as a scout for the Kings when he perished aboard United Flight 175 on Sept. 11, 2001.
In the Stanley Cup Final, the Kings defeated the New Jersey Devils in six games, capped by a 6-1 triumph in Monday's clincher in Los Angeles. It marked the first time in league history that an eighth-seeded team won the Cup.
