EASTON, Pa. - Paced by senior Rich Peters' second-place performance, the Boston University men's cross country team finished fifth at the Patriot League Championship on Saturday at Lafayette's Metzgar Field Cross Country Course.
Peters, who also finished second at the New England Championships earlier this season, completed the course in 24:28.11, just six seconds behind the champion, Tyler Mueller of Lehigh. BU compiled 112 points to finish fifth while Navy (61) edged Lehigh (63) by two points for the title.
Sophomore Kevin Thomas finished 16th (25:48.63) and junior Ben Ravetz was 22nd (26:02.16) to round out the Terriers in the top 25. Junior Aaron Somoroff was 34th (26:25.87), sophomore Alec Olson placed 43rd (26:50.34) and senior Michael Caputo finished 46th (26:52.66) as six BU harriers were in the top 50.
Other Terriers to compete on Saturday included sophomore Paul Gennaro (27:19.92), freshman Matti Groll (27:47.79), sophomore Alex Civitano (27:55.51), senior Tom Waterman (28:00.45), freshman Tom Cunningham (28:16.02) and sophomore John McKeon (29:14.29).
BU will be back in action on Nov. 15 when the Terriers compete in the NCAA Northeast Regional at Van Cortlandt Park in New York City.
