CRCA award announcements
Senior Caroline Kimberly earned All-New England First Team honors for the Boston University women's rowing team, junior Lynn Ratte received All-New England Second Team honors while senior Katrina Lyter, sophomore Claire Richer and Kimberly were named National Scholar-Athletes, the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) announced Tuesday afternoon.
A CAA All-Conference honoree, Kimberly sat in the stroke seat on the varsity eight boat during the spring season and helped the Terriers win the CAA Championship and earn BU its first trip to the NCAA Championships since 2006. Ratte, also a CAA-All Conference honoree, sat in the six seat for the V8 boat at both the CAA Championships and at the Eastern Sprints, where she helped the V8 boat finish third in the Grand Final and third overall in team points.
Lyter, Richer and Kimberly were all named CRCA National Scholar-Athletes. All student-athletes who achieved the criteria described below are given the honor.
REQUIREMENTS
• The student-athlete has met all eligibility rules as defined by her institution
• The student-athlete was in her 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year of eligibility
• The student-athlete rowed in her institution's NCAA or IRA eligible boat(s) for a minimum of 75% of the current spring races or racing in a regional conference event.
CRITERIA
• The student-athlete has had a 3.5 cumulative GPA or higher for her career (through the fall semester/quarter for the current competition year).
