NEW BRITAIN, Conn. - Led by sophomore Alec Olson's first-place performance, The Boston University men's cross country team finished second at the Ted Owen Invitational hosted by Central Connecticut State on Saturday morning.
Olson finished first with a time of 26:09.79, nearly eight seconds faster than the third-place athlete. Two other BU harriers were in the top 10 as senior Michael Caputo (26:31.37) and junior Ben Ravetz (26:36.70) placed ninth and 10th, respectively. The Terriers finished with 60 points, 14 clear of third-place Central Connecticut State. Connecticut won the event with 23 points.
Sophomore Paul Gennaro (27:05.37) and junior John McKeon (28:02.15) each finished in the top 25, with Genarro coming in 15th place and McKeon crossing the line in 25th place. All seven BU harriers placed in the top 30 as freshman Matti Groll (28:04.42) was right behind McKeon in 26th and senior Tom Waterman (28:10.92) finished 28th.
BU will return to action on Oct. 12 when the Terriers host the New England Championships at Franklin Park.
