BOSTON - The Boston University men's lacrosse program and head coach Ryan Polley have announced the addition of three players to the 2014 roster on Wednesday.

Transfer Sammy Davis will join Michael Carbone and Josh Chevalier on the 41-player squad. All three newcomers hail from Massachusetts, bringing the total number of in-state players to six.

Davis (Pittsfield, Mass.) is the lone addition to have played Division 1 lacrosse, having spent last season with Penn State. In four games with the Nittany Lions, Davis notched one assist and collected two ground balls to help Penn State advance to the NCAA tournament. Prior to last season, Davis played four seasons at The Governor's Academy.

"The most important thing to take from Sammy is that he's a good player and an even better person," Polley said. "Having been through a great program in Penn State, he's going to bring leadership, athleticism and a skill set that we need in terms of creating defensive motion. He's explosive, an excellent shooter, and we're hoping teams are going to have to key on him and it will open up some of our other players."

Carbone (Marshfield, Mass.) comes to BU after playing three seasons of varsity lacrosse at Marshfield High School. He was named a 2013 Boston Herald and Patriot Ledger All-Scholastic after he scored 87 goals and had 27 assists as a senior. Carbone was also honored as a league All-Star and offensive MVP in 2013 and helped lead Marshfield to a perfect 20-0 regular season as a sophomore.

Chevalier (Andover, Mass.) played for the BU club team last season and collected 14 ground balls. Before that, Chevalier played two seasons of varsity lacrosse at Andover High School, where he was a conference all-star during his senior season. He also led Andover in ground balls as a sophomore.

BU will begin its inaugural season on Feb. 8 when the Terriers travel to Macon, Ga., to face Mercer.
