BOSTON -
After tipping off the season with a four-game road trip, the Boston University men's basketball team will open its 14-game home schedule against UMass Lowell on Sunday at Case Gym with action slated for 1 p.m.

Last season, the Terriers (1-3) faced the River Hawks (4-2) for the first time since 1985 and pulled out a 91-65 victory, as UML began its transition to the NCAA Division I ranks. Following the blowout win in which it scored a school-record 64 points during the first half, BU went on to claim the Patriot League regular season title, while UML stunned the America East with an 8-8 conference record.

This year, the River Hawks will be headed to The Roof with plenty of momentum, having won four straight. After losses to Ohio State (92-55) and Rhode Island (72-56), they have posted victories over Sacred Heart (57-54), NJIT (63-61), Fordham (64-57) and D-III member Mount Ida (102-57).

BU only returns two of the five double-figure scorers from the previous match-up between the two squads, and coincidentally, they own both of the Terriers' double-doubles this season. Sophomore Cedric Hankerson went 4-of-6 last year en route to 10 points and has had a stellar start to this season, averaging a team-high 20.3 ppg after averaging 6.4 ppg for Patriot League All-Rookie Team honors.

Hankerson tallied a career-high 24 points at No. 1 Kentucky back on Nov. 21 and followed with a personal-best 26 points on Tuesday at New Hampshire while also hauling in a career-high 10 rebounds for his first double-double. His 50 combined points are the most by a Terrier since Darryl Partin tallied 51 at Boston College and Saint Joseph's in December 2011.

Highlighted by his second-career double-double in the 71-63 victory at Norfolk State, junior Nathan Dieudonne leads BU in rebounding at 7.8 rpg while also averaging 7.8 ppg. He's helped BU out-rebound opponents with a +1.0 margin through four games.

The Terriers are shooting 40.9 percent from the field, while opponents are shooting 45.7 percent. They are off to a 1-3 start with turnovers playing a key role following the departure of two starting ball handlers from last season's squad. BU owns a negative 5.2 turnover margin and will be tested by a team that is averaging a 4.0 turnover margin.

Jahad Thomas leads UML in both scoring (14.3 ppg) and rebounding (6.3 rpg). He is also one of three River Hawks with at least eight steals to start the season. Lance Crawford is second in scoring at 9.5 ppg. Fans can expect plenty of 3-pointers, as the two teams average a combined 16.0 treys per game.

Following the contest, BU will resume its three-game homestand on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. against another America East member, Binghamton. The game is part of a Terrier basketball double header, which will begin with the women hosting New Hampshire at 5:30 p.m.
