ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - Seniors Rich Peters and Monica Adler each advanced to the national final in the mile run at the NCAA Division I Indoor Track & Field Championships hosted by the University of New Mexico at the Albuquerque Convention Center on Friday night.

Peters was victorious in his semifinal heat, crossing the finish line first with a time of 4:09.65. He will be competing in his second national final in the mile after finishing runner-up at the 2012 championships. The Bristol, England, native has won all three miles he has raced this season.

Adler finished fifth in her heat, but it was the quicker of the two semifinals which allowed her to take one of the final two spots. The top four in each heat advanced, followed by the next two fastest times. Adler had a time of 4:42.56, which was only five one-hundredths of a second shy of an automatic spot in the final.

The mile will be the first event on the track Saturday, with the men's final taking place at 8 p.m. ET before the women's final begins at 8:15 p.m. ET. Peters will then compete in the final of the 3,000m run at 9:40 p.m. ET.
