CLEARWATER, Fla. - Concluding the Michele Smith Spring Break Tournament, the Boston University softball team dropped a 7-0 decision to Butler on Sunday morning at the Eddie C. Moore Complex. With their three-game win streak snapped, the Terriers fall to 11-10, while the Bulldogs improve to 7-15.

Butler jumped out quickly with three runs off four hits in the first against sophomore Lauren Hynes (5-6) and added three unearned runs against freshman Makinna Akers in the fourth. Kristen Gutierrez (3-6) pitched a gem, limiting BU to just one hit behind 10 strikeouts against one walk.

Batting .462 during the three-day event, freshman Moriah Connolly recorded the Terriers' lone single in the bottom of the second.

BU will continue its season-opening road trip at the Yale Invitational on Saturday (March 22) with a doubleheader against the Bulldogs and Bryant. First pitch is set for 12:30 p.m.
