The Boston University women's rowing team won seven of its 10 races on Saturday afternoon in a meet against Delaware and Patriot League foe Bucknell in Lewisberry, Penn. It was the first time this season the Terriers lightweight team competed together with their openweight teammates.

The Terriers won the second varsity 8, varsity 4, varsity lightweight 8 and varsity lightweight 4 races against Bucknell, then took the varsity 8, second varsity 8 and varsity 4 from Delaware later in the afternoon.

"Every week, we are learning how to fine tune our race plan and execute our races more effectively," said head women's rowing coach Stacey Rippetoe. "Today was certainly no exception and we will continue to move forward from here."

BU's 2V8 won their first race of the day, defeating Bucknell by openwater. Coxed by junior Eline Vermeulen and stroked by classmate Claire Richer, the Terriers finished with a time of 7:26.6, well ahead of Bucknell's time of 7:40.2. Later in the afternoon, the second varsity eight boat won its second race of the day, defeating Delaware by more than 22 seconds.

The varsity four boat, coxed by freshman Marlaina Miller and stroked by sophomore Sam Woo, defeated Bucknell by 21 seconds. Later, in their second race of the day, the V4 defeated Delaware by 7 seconds.

After dropping its first race of the day to Bucknell, the varsity eight boat, coxed by senior Sarah Specht and stroked by freshman Kelli Wegner, rebounded in its second race against Delaware. The V8 finished with a time of 7:01.1, well ahead of Delaware's time of 7:20.7.

Competing with its openweight teammates for the first time, the Terriers' varsity lightweight 8 boat won a very close race against Bucknell. Coxed by sophomore Allison Triola and stroked by junior Carol Chase Peterson, the VL8 finished with a fast time of 6:56.6, just ahead of Bucknell's time of 6:57.7.
