The Boston University women's rowing team continued its preparation for the 50th Head of the Charles Regatta by taking on Boston College on Saturday morning in a head race on the Charles River.
Boston College's A boat finished with the fastest time of 18:44 on the day, finishing six seconds better than BU's A boat. The two teams raced the same course that will be used for the annual Head of the Charles.
The BU openweights are coming off a fantastic 2013-2014 campaign that saw them win the Patriot League Championship and earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Division I Championships, the team's second-consecutive trip to the NCAAs.
"I know that all of us are excited to turn the page and start a new year," said women's rowing head coach Stacey Rippetoe before the race. "I think we all learned a lot last spring from the challenges we faced and all the things that we were able to accomplish. We are excited to start from there and build on it."
The Terriers will next compete in the 50th Head of the Charles Regatta, which begins Oct. 18th with Boston University's DeWolfe Boathouse once again serving as the starting point.
